India: Foreign but Familiar

I left New Years day. After 48 hours, four cities, three flights, several single-serving friends, and one cab ride: I made it (safe, sound, and with relative ease) to Bangalore!!

Naturally, during the many hours in the sky I started to feel the creeping sense of panic that comes with huge life altering decisions – for example quitting your job and moving to India. Thankfully, once I landed I was greeted by a foreign but familiar city. Reminiscent of Dhaka but more expansive, I felt the comfort of home in the utterly new. Just like that, there were no more doubts, only the knowledge I had done the right thing. I am doing the right thing.

I have already begun to fall head over heels for my new home. Surrounded by the incredibly kind/ inspiring people in my cohort and this city's vastness, I'm swept up with all the possibilities of the new year & of this world. I can’t really explain it, but I feel it in my bones. 2016 will be magnificent.

This city knows my heart - and my heart loves twinkle lights.

Hunting down Wifi. It's actually really really hard.

Baby cow just roaming the street.
Let’s call her Maybell.

Rooftop view from our hotel for field orientation.
First night out - and Bangalore likes heavy metal.

Temple/Architectural masterpiece seamlessly integrated into the city.

Bonus points if you caught the fight club reference.
